DESCRIPTION:The Lecture will be given by Dr Alicia Chrysostomou. The title of the lecture: ‘Plastics – Misunderstandings\, Myths and Misdirection’\nThe talk will covers aspects of the material not commonly voiced\, including its indelible role in our lives\, whether recent denouncements are justified\, and how it could further our desire to become better environmentally protective citizens. Society opposes plastic with little understanding of the material or the environmental harm associated with alternatives. \nWhen it comes to plastics the genie is out of the bottle. Instead of trying to stuff it back\, should we instead try embrace its positive aspects? SUMMARY:Horners Company Presentation on Award Winning Evolution in Protective Body Armour
DESCRIPTION:The Worshipful Company of Horners presents\, in association with the British Plastics Federation (BPF)\, three annual awards for innovation\, design and sustainability in plastic products\, processes and packaging. The most prestigious of these is the Horners Award for Plastics Innovation and Design\, the oldest such award in the world\, having been established in 1946. \nIn 2024\, this award was presented to a research group in the School of Design and Creative Arts at Loughborough University\, for their revolutionary next-generation additive manufactured police body armour.
