SUMMARY:Pollinating London Together's Equinox Dinner
DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to extend an invitation to a truly special evening—the Equinox Dinner taking place on the 23rd of September at the historic Grocers’ Hall. This is an event not to be missed\, where we will celebrate the turning of the seasons and the progress of Pollinating London Together (PLT). \nThe evening will begin with an update from our Chairman on PLT’s impactful work across the city. But the highlight of the night will undoubtedly be our esteemed guest speaker\, Professor Phil Stevenson from the Royal Botanic Gardens\, Kew. As the Priority Leader of Trait Diversity and Function\, Professor Stevenson’s work on plant and fungal traits plays a vital role in conservation and enhancing ecosystem resilience. His expertise\, particularly in the chemistry of nectar and pollen\, offers fascinating insights into how plants interact with pollinators and how this knowledge can be harnessed to promote sustainable food systems. \nThis is a rare opportunity to hear directly from one of the leading voices in plant chemistry and ecological function. Professor Stevenson also holds a dual role as Professor of Plant Chemistry at the Natural Resources Institute\, University of Greenwich\, making him uniquely positioned to explore the intersections between science and sustainable agriculture. \nJoin us for an evening that promises not only delightful cuisine and conversation but also a chance to engage with the science that underpins our mission. \nEvent Details:\nDate: 23rd September 2024\nTime: 1845\nLocation: Grocers’ Hall\nDress Code: Black Tie \nSecure your place at this exceptional dinner please book using the link below\nhttps://buytickets.at/pollinatinglondontogether/1330494 \nWe look forward to celebrating this significant moment of the year with you\, as we reflect on our achievements and look ahead to the exciting work that lies before us.

SUMMARY:Pepys Day 2024 guided tours
DESCRIPTION:In September 1666 the Great Fire of London swept through the City. Man-about-town Samuel Pepys witnessed and recorded the events of that extraordinary week. \nThe fire started at 1.00am on September 2nd and by mid-morning Pepys was writing about it in his diary. The fire was put out on September 6th and we are marking this as Pepys Day. \nThere is so much more to Samuel Pepys and his Diary than that one fateful week in September. His diary covers just over nine years and the tours\, with an official City of London Guide\, will include much about him\, his life and exploits and the times in which he lived as well as key moments from the Great Fire. \nThere are two different walk routes\, both start from the Monument on Fish Street Hill\, both end inside the Mansion House where we will be met by Lord Mayor\, Michael Mainelli and the Lady Mayoress and we will all raise a toast to Pepys and his Diary. \nTours will leave at 10 minute intervals starting at 10.00am with the last departure at 10.41 am. Each tour will be lead by an official City of London Guide. Booking is essential. \nWalk 1: ‘And So to Bed’ goes eastwards and takes in the area where Pepys and his wife Elizabeth lived. Departs at 10.00. 10.10\, 10.20\, 10.30 and 10.40 \nWalk 2: ‘I to Church’ goes northwards taking in many of the places\, people and incidents from Pepys’ life. Departs at 10.01\, 10.11\, 10.21\, 10.31 and 10.41 \nProceeds will go to the Lord Mayor’s Appeal which supports charity partners focused on mental health; homelessness; and numeracy.
