City Music Foundation Lunchtime Concert – Thomas Allery, Aaron Akugbo and Claire Ward

Three CMF Artists join forces to perform at the only City of London livery hall with an organ – Ensemble Hesperi’s Thomas Allery (also Director of Music at the Temple Church) Connaught Brass’ trumpeter Aaron Akugbo and soprano Claire Ward.

Their programme threads the music of two London City organists from different centuries around songs by the Baroque giant and London musician Henry Purcell, and a rare outing of Alan Hovhannes’ Trumpet Sonata. The programme concludes with Bach’s explosive cantata for trumpet and soprano Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen, sure to raise the high ceilings of the Merchant Taylor’s Hall.
