The City of London Corporation provides a wide range of high‑quality public services to support and enrich life in the Square Mile and beyond. These services include housing, education, social care, public health, libraries, leisure, environmental health, and licensing, helping residents live independent and healthy lives.

Its responsibilities extend far outside the City’s boundaries. The Corporation manages schools, operates major wholesale markets, conserves 19 large green spaces and around 180 smaller ones, oversees the City of London Police, and serves as the London Port Health Authority, covering 94 miles of the River Thames and ensuring the safety of imported food and feed entering the UK.

The City Corporation also operates the City of London Cemetery and Crematorium, manages significant charitable responsibilities including the City Bridge Foundation, and plays an important role in supporting London’s economic, cultural, and environmental wellbeing.

Much of this work is delivered through a comprehensive structure of committees, which oversee everything from open spaces to education, finance, planning, markets, and policing, ensuring effective governance across all areas of the Corporation’s remit.
