Prospective members can join a Livery Company through several established routes, beginning as a Freeman and later progressing to Liveryman. Admission to the Freedom of the Company may be granted by Patrimony (family connection), Servitude (completion of an apprenticeship), or Redemption (introduction and application). The most common path to membership is through Redemption.
After engaging with the Company and attending events, prospective members are usually invited to submit a formal application and attend an interview with the membership committee. If recommended and subsequently approved by the Court, candidates will be invited to attend a Freedom admission ceremony to be admitted as Freemen of the Company.
