City Giving Day

Last Updated on 03/03/2026

City Giving Day  is a flagship initiative of The Lord Mayor’s Appeal, celebrating the positive impact businesses make through philanthropy, volunteering, and community engagement. Since its launch in 2015, the event has grown year on year, becoming a highly recognisable moment in the City’s calendar.

Originally conceived as a one‑day celebration, City Giving Day has now evolved into part of a wider, year‑round programme, City Giving mobilises businesses across the City and beyond to champion a City that Cares. The aim is to foster long‑term charitable commitment, support local communities, and bring businesses together to help create better futures for Londoners.

Held annually each September, City Giving Day remains the central focal point of the programme, offering organisations an opportunity to:

  • Showcase their charity partnerships
  • Highlight their volunteering and fundraising efforts
  • Engage employees in meaningful and enjoyable activities
  • Inspire others to take part in community‑focused initiatives

Companies can design their own activities—such as fundraising events, volunteering opportunities, or awareness campaigns—or participate in events organised by The Lord Mayor’s Appeal, including the Tour de City static Wattbike challenge, City Walk, Treasure Hunt, and Quiz Night.

The programme continues to expand, with more than 600 organisations taking part in 2025 and participation expected to grow nationwide from 2026 onwards. To date, City Giving Day has raised over £1.28 million for The Lord Mayor’s Appeal.

You can register your organisation for City Giving Day on the Lord Mayor’s Appeal website.
