Lord Mayor’s Appeal

London faces urgent societal challenges, and a multi-year strategy is underway to build a City that is Inclusive, Healthy, Skilled, and Fair. The latest 2025 Impact Report highlights the progress being made across these four pillars.

An Inclusive City

London’s diversity is unmatched, yet many people still face barriers to employment and career progression. These include individuals with disabilities, ethnic minorities (Black, Asian, Multicultural, Ethnic), those from low socio-economic backgrounds, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
The Power of Inclusion initiative continues to support organisations in building inclusive leadership and workplace cultures.

A Healthy City

Ending the stigma around mental health remains a priority. Campaigns such as This Is Me, Storytelling, and the Green Ribbon initiative encourage open conversations and visible support for emotional wellbeing across the City.
Mental health affects everyone, and stigma continues to impact both individuals and business performance.

A Skilled City

Addressing the skills divide, the one-day programme now branded as We Can Be continues to open the City to untapped talent. Young women are invited to visit City firms, meet role models, and explore how their skills and backgrounds are valued in the workplace.
This initiative promotes gender equality and inspires future leaders.

A Fair City

Efforts to ensure fair access to opportunity are ongoing. Programmes such as City Giving Day, and partnerships with charities like Homewards (tackling homelessness) and MQ Mental Health Research, support fairness across housing, education, and financial literacy.
Despite London’s wealth, many families and children remain in poverty.

There are many ways to support this work—through fundraising events, corporate sponsorships, donations, and volunteering. Livery Companies and City organisations continue to play a vital role in driving change.
