There are several ways by which prospective members can apply to join a livery company, initially as a Freeman and then as a Liveryman. Admissions to the Freedom of the Company may be by Patrimony (Family links), Servitude (former Apprentice) or Redemption (Introduction). The most common route to membership is by Redemption.
Following a period of engagement with company events, candidates will normally be invited to complete an application and submit to interview by a membership committee. Upon successful recommendation and approval by the governing Court, the candidates will be invited to attend a Freeman admission ceremony.
