Last Updated on 19/04/2026

The Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers is committed to better vision for all. We believe that nobody should be held back by poor vision, and we want you to make the best of your eyes.

At our now-annual Eye Health for the Livery event, attendees will hear from our experts in all fields of vision care. We will discover what we can do to help ourselves, our family and friends. And we will hear about the technology now widely available to help if vision declines because of eye conditions, age-related factors, or injury.

There is no charge to attend. You can sign up via our website here: https://www.spectaclemakers.com/events/e-217

Speakers will include:
Daniel Hardiman-McCartney MBE, Clinical Adviser to the College of Optometrists and regular BBC Breakfast pundit
Professor Chris Hammond, Frost Professor of Ophthalmology at King’s College London and Consultant Ophthalmologist at St Thomas’ Hospital
Vijay Tailor-Hamblin, Research Orthoptist, Moorfields Eye Hospital
Fiona Anderson, Dispensing Optician and the Master Spectacle Maker, 2025/26

There will be an opportunity to ask questions and chat over drinks and canapes, after the main session. We hope that everyone will leave with some actions that could help improve their vision and general health.

Doors open 17.45 for tea and coffee, main session 18.15–19.15, followed by Q&A, and drinks and nibbles until 20.00.

Dress code: business wear with badges of office.
