Guided Tour of Bunhill Fields

17 September 2025 @ 14:00 - 15:30
£20

Last Updated on 21/07/2025

Join us for a guided tour of Bunhill Fields, a Grade I-listed historic landscape spanning 1.6 hectares. This atmospheric burial ground is the final resting place of notable figures such as William Blake, Daniel Defoe, and John Bunyan, along with many other non-conformists. The oldest surviving memorial dates back to 1678, with the last burial recorded in 1854.

Today, Bunhill Fields is not only a site of historic significance but also a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC). Managed by the City of London Corporation since 1960, and supported by the Friends of City Gardens, it has become a beacon of sustainability and climate resilience. Biodiversity enhancements include habitats for pollinators, birds, bats, and native woodland flora. Representatives from both organisations will be present to share insights into their conservation work.

Highlights:

Rare access behind the railings of this important heritage site
Exploration of historic graves and rewilding efforts
A chance to see how biodiversity and sustainability are being actively promoted
The visit concludes with optional tea (not included in cost) while viewing the remodelled Old Street station and public realm
Practical Information:
