Pollinating London Together is hosting a one-of-a-kind experience at a site like no other, to learn more about Peabody’s approach to managing Thamesmead’s remarkable urban landscape.

We are thrilled to invite you to an exclusive, one-of-a-kind experience at a site like no other, to learn more about Peabody’s approach to managing Thamesmead’s remarkable urban landscape during an exclusive walking tour on the 10th of June 2026, from 10:00am to 11:30am. The tour will be led by Dr Phil Askew, Peabody’s Director of Landscape and Anthony Bickmore, PLT Board member.

This promise to be a rare opportunity with privileged access to a wonderful biodiverse green space within a designated London’s Garden City. Be part of a wonderful summer gathering and see the transformative effect of incorporating the beauty of urban nature into this housing scheme which is benefitting from investment in its green infrastructure alongside dramatically improved transport connections.

About the tour

As owners of two-thirds of this south-east London town, Peabody are custodians of a vast and varied landscape. Working with community and other partners, they are delivering a comprehensive plan to improve and maintain more than 280 hectares of green space, five lakes and seven kilometres of canal network.

The walking tour will bring to life Peabody’s approach to looking after the landscape, working with local people and partners. You will see sustainable and biodiverse enhancements. These include revitalised housing courtyards and other shared spaces as part of the £10m South Thamesmead Garden Estate programme, and major improvements to Southmere Lake as part of a £2.5m investment. Come and see the changes that have and are being made.
