The Temple Bar Trust is pleased to announce a series of events celebrating one of the City’s best kept architectural secrets.
The live walks provide a rare opportunity to visit the interior of two of its magnificent halls.
Tickets can be booked on the Temple Bar Trust website
An introductory online talk by Anya Lucas, co-author of The Livery Halls of the City of London, will be given via Zoom on Monday 21st June at 18:30
Anya’s talk will be based on her introductory and concluding chapters of the book covering the historical background to the formation of Livery Companies and their halls plus the halls lost over the centuries.
Anya Lucas is an architectural historian interested in the early modern period. Elements of Anya’s PhD thesis on the Livery Halls of the seventeenth-century City of London (Courtauld Institute, 2015) informed the historical sections of the Merrell/WCCA book (2018). Anya is also co-author of The Painted Hall: Sir James Thornhill’s Masterpiece at Greenwich (Merrell, 2019) and worked as Research Curator on the Painted Hall project (2015-19).
Tickets for this talk cost £5 plus booking fee or are FREE when a place on one of the physical live walks on the 9th or 26th July are booked. Please email contact@templebartrust.org to claim your free place on this talk.
