Welcome to the 113th Livery Company – the Communicators

Today, the Court of Aldermen, meeting at the City of London’s Guildhall, approved full Worshipful status to the Company of Communicators, making the Company the 113th Livery Company of the City of London.

The Company was set up in 2000, with a membership ranging from Public Affairs to Investor Relations, from Corporate Communications to Consumer PR. The Company’s sponsoring Alderman is the economist and former Lord Mayor, Professor Michael Mainelli.

Master Communicator, Jason Groves, warmly welcomed the announcement saying:

‘This is a very exciting day in this our 25th anniversary year. It is a moment in our Company’s history but also our industry’s history, as we take our place amongst all the other professions that have contributed to the UK’s economy and the reputation of the City of London. It is a recognition of the value that people who work in Communicators bring to the country.

Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to achieve our aim of becoming the Worshipful Company of Communicators.”

In the last 900 years, only 112 other professions have been recognised in this way.

The Company of Communicators was established as the Guild of Public Relations in 2000, the first stage of a three-stage process, and is one of the modern Livery companies.
