Horners Company Presentation on Award Winning Evolution in Protective Body Armour

23 September 2025 @ 18:30 - 21:00
Free

Last Updated on 28/08/2025

The Worshipful Company of Horners presents, in association with the British Plastics Federation (BPF), three annual awards for innovation, design and sustainability in plastic products, processes and packaging. The most prestigious of these is the Horners Award for Plastics Innovation and Design, the oldest such award in the world, having been established in 1946.

In 2024, this award was presented to a research group in the School of Design and Creative Arts at Loughborough University, for their revolutionary next-generation additive manufactured police body armour. Dr Andrew Johnson, lead researcher of the group, has now agreed to give us a report on progress made in the body armour production and the next steps required to see it adopted by the UK’s police forces.

This presentation will be of interest to those involved in product design, the use of novel materials in product innovation, the development of equipment and protective clothing for the security forces and first responders and, of course, members of the Worshipful Company of Horners and other Livery Companies.

Please join us on Zoom using the link below to attend this live presentation, entitled “Protecting the Protectors: Evolving Body Armour for Modern Policing”.
