Livery Impact Report 2025 – No Going Back – an update

Last Updated on 22/07/2025

Further to the details provided in the Livery Impact Report 2025, we have pleasure in giving an update on the Livery initiatives that were featured in the report. Our first is from No Going Back, and we hope you will enjoy their short film as well.

No Going Back’s successful five year journey has been driven by a growing number of Livery Companies who’s enthusiasm to reduce re-offending and make a difference in the criminal justice sector has been impressive. A huge thank you to the 43 Livery Companies who have supported us and for their enthusiastic guidance for our journey over the last 5 years. As we grew to become an independent Charity and Social Enterprise, the Livery not only helped with funding but also over 200 volunteers have joined us for workshops in and out of prisons. In addition they form our Steering Group, advising and helping to respond to the challenges of the sector so No Going Back can deliver its mission to reduce re-offending by guiding prison leavers into skills training and employment with a support team providing a route for men and women leaving prison back into society.

We are so proud that to date over 2,000 people have been helped along their rehabilitation journey and over 350 people supported into employment. We have been independently evaluated since 2020 and last year alone we saved the Government £3m. We also know NGB is succeeding, with our reoffending rate of 4% against published figures of 40% we now contribute towards reducing the £23bn cost of re-offending every year.

Our 17 Alumni Peer Ambassadors are testament to our achievements as many of them have been with us since we started and one has joined the Board.

Through the original inspiration and now ongoing guidance of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners the Social Enterprise and the Charity team are driving activity in the facilities management (FM) and cleaning sectors. Cleaning is one of the largest groups of employers in the UK and the £54bn Facilities Management sector includes building maintenance, construction and property management. Both have significant skills shortages and present a major opportunity for careers for prison leavers.

NGB CLEAN the social enterprise, officially launched in March and is now starting to flourish working on cleaning contracts around London with prison leavers and those from challenging backgrounds working alongside the professional team. Above all it has a sustainability mission that means it is setting net zero targets and working with clients that recognise the importance of that. This has also fed into the Charity which are now also sourcing ‘green’ jobs for candidates in the sector so we can make sure that we get everyone we can into employment.

We value the support we have received for the Charity, not only from a number of enthusiastic Livery volunteers who are delivering workshops and one to one support in and out of prison, but also from individuals supporting us. In particular, Christopher Colman, the Merchant Taylor who walked 2000km from Canterbury to Rome to support us.

If you are interested to find out more about NGB go to the website, and we welcome volunteers and all support including individual sponsorship for our candidates so we can help more people every year.
