The Confidence Code Conference 2025 – Leadership for a Changing City

Last Updated on 27/05/2025

The Livery Committee, in conjunction with the Worshipful Company of Entrepreneurs and Information Technologists are delighted to have received such positive feedback after their second EDI event, held on Thursday 22nd May in the Livery Hall.

It was insightful, inspirational and ‘enjoyable’ in equal measure.

There were so many powerful and resonating takeaways. Here are some of the key ones:

  • Resilience and self assurance. Remember, anything is possible and keep asking yourself ‘How hard can it be?’
  • If you do nothing, nothing changes.
  • Think hard about what you want to achieve, what does success look like to you?
  • Ask good questions and then really listen to the answers.
  • Lack of confidence is the enemy.
  • Learn how to overcome your inner critic and change that voice.
  • Build resilience when faced with challenges.
  • Build a positive culture, especially if you are ‘the only’/‘the first’/‘the last’.
  • Leadership is not always the loudest voice.
  • Be patient with your progression.
  • Choose carefully who you work with.
  • Reframe your nerves into excitement.
  • Act ‘as if’.
  • Build an ecosystem where everyone belongs and is supported.
  • Remember people want to be part of the magic of the square mile.

With huge thanks to all involved, especially the organising committee – Veronica Heaven, Amy Hopper, Debbie Hatchwell, Vicki Schmidt Cooper, and Maggie Berry. To all our speakers – Dame Sue Langley, Jill Pay, Richard Savage, Amy Hopper, and Kate Jolly. To all our panellists – Florence King, Sarah-Jane Benham, Talan Skeels-Piggins, and Mark Gettleson.

Finally to the 100 delegates who were so involved and engaged and asked such great questions. Thank you!
